If you’re a touring jet ski rider, then a jet ski gas can is an essential item to have on board. Even if you aren’t a touring rider, it’s a good idea to bring some extra gas with you, especially if you are riding in the ocean. Some might argue gas is as essential as a life jacket.
In this guide, we’ll go over some of our favorite gas cans, as well as other items you will need. You obviously will need somewhere to store the gas on your PWC – so we include some suggestions for fuel racks too!
The best jet ski gas cans are:
- Sea-Doo Fuel Caddy
- Attwood Marine Gas Can
- Fuel Pax Gas Caddy
- SureCan Gas Can
Gas Cans You Can Bring On Your Jet Ski
Sea-Doo Fuel Caddy
This gas can is made by Sea-Doo so it is obviously designed specifically for jet skis. It is our top pick for several reasons. First, it is easily mountable to your jet ski. Even if you don’t have a fuel rack, you can still mount it on the back of your jet ski.
Second, it is already marinized for saltwater use. This can will last and is made for the water.
Third, it is 4 gallons, which is perfect for most PWC. It isn’t too little and isn’t too much.
It’s 8 x 8 x 17 inches. It is typically around $180. Check Amazon for the latest price!
Stackable gas can made by Sea-Doo. Easily installed on most jet skis and made specifically for jet ski.

This is another great can that can be easily stowed on a PWC. It is designed for the water so it is already marinized. You can get a similar product as the Sea-Doo can for a fraction of the cost with this one. That said, you will need a fuel rack or basket for this can.
Another possible issue with this can is it is not designed to pour as easily as the Sea-Doo can. You may need to get a fuel line pump to bring with you. Check later in the article for fuel lines. This is a 6-gallon can, so it works great for any jet ski.
Stackable marine gas can. 6-gallon capacity and made for the water.

This is another viable option and usually the most affordable. These cans are designed for jeeps and ATVs, but it can work on a PWC. Just be sure to get a fuel rack.
It is 2.5 gallons so it can fit on even smaller jet skis. It holds just enough gas to help you if you are in a pinch.
SureCan Gas Can
This the most affordable option. What’s great about this can is there are no pumps or careful pouring required. With its long neck, you can easily fill your jet ski without spilling. If you commonly find yourself on choppy water, this can might be the easiest to use for you.
Its 2.2-gallon size makes it perfect for a jet ski. If you have a larger touring style jet ski, you might be better off with a larger can.
Jet Ski Fuel Racks And Other Accessories
Kool PWC Stuff Jet Ski Rack
This is one of our favorite jet ski racks. It can be used as a fuel rack or for a small cooler. If you are a touring jet ski rider, a rack is a must-have item. I personally like this rack to stow a dry bag and a small gas can.
Its universal design makes easy installation for Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Sea-Doo Personal Watercrafts. It will run you around $270. Check the price on Amazon! Occasionally they have sales.
Universally compatible jet ski rack for gas cans or small coolers with minimalist design.

Build A Baskets are great for touring jet skis. You can haul a lot of stuff with these things. The great thing about Build A Baskets is they easily come with add-ons.
Depending on the size of your trip, you can leave the main basket on for gas cans. Or, if you are going on a long trek, you can put a large cooler in the main basket and put the fuel can add-on basket on the side.
It’s made of heavy-duty marine-grade 1/4″ powder-coated aluminum & SS hardware. These things are super cool and will last forever.
Be sure to check out the $99 fuel basket add-on! It has easy installation so you can increase your load on a whim. It is also made of the heavy-duty coated aluminum as the main basket.
Easy to install and durable basket. Can be customized easily for added storage.
Fuel Pump
If you go with the Attwood or the Fuel Pax Can, you will probably want to get a portable fuel pump. These can be easily stored under your seat or other compartments until you need it. It will make your filling experience much easier, especially if you are on choppy water.
It is 6ft in length and is compatible with ethanol mixed fuel. It is also advertised as a marine product, so it will last a long time on the water. The high quality, thick rubber and metal clamps mean it should have a long life. It will run you about $15. That means you can get a can and pump for less than a Sea-Doo can, which might end up being easier to use if you have a fuel rack.
Highly recommended for Attwood or other stackable gas cans. Will make transfering fuel much easier.
DuraMax Flo n’ Go Rolling Can
This is a great marine gas can, but it isn’t designed to be brought with you on your jet ski. It is 14-gallons. That said, it is great for pulling to the dock and filling up. You may be able to save some money compared to filling up at the marina. It’s easily portable in a car or truck and has a hand pump, making for easy filling. These run for about $145 but are on sale at Amazon for $130.
Portable marine gas tank by a trusted brand. Perfect for rolling onto dock and filling up.
